DEVELOPMENT GOALS

In the development strategy of FCE, researching is a very important content together with the educating one. FCE sets concrete goals to develop research activities as follows:

1. Developing key research groups, key laboratories in computer engineering, embedded system, and IC-ASIC design toward the industrial revolution 4.0 and IoT-based technology.

2. Increasing the competency and development of academic staff (lecturers and researchers), recruiting new lecturers abroad with high education qualification and experience.

KEY RESEARCH GROUPS

EMBEDDED SYSTEM AND ROBOTICS

This group is targeted to research and develop innovative techniques in embedded system designs and provide effective and automotive solutions for industrial markets. Main research fields:

- New embedded programming

- Cyber-Physical-System (CPS) design

- Industrial robotic design and applications

Remark activities:

- Conducting application projects on self-driving cars, industrial robots, hospital assistant systems and precise agriculture…

- Designing automotive robots and applications for industry

- Collaborating to hold academic activities and contests for students and researchers.

ASIC-IC DESIGN AND APPLICATION

This group is targeted to research and develop innovative techniques in hardware and IC design. Main research fields and solutions:

- Microprocessor and Microcontroller architectures, ASIC design, SoC, NoC, RISC-V

- FPGA-based high performance design

- Wireless embedded system design, RF design and antenna

- Near field and long range collection data systems through wireless communications.

IMAGE PROCESSING AND APPLICATION

This group is targeted to research and develop innovative techniques in signal processing including digital signal processing, analog signal processing and parallel processing. Research results are strongly applied to implement application in data processing, AI-based systems, and human-computer interaction systems.

- Techniques on image processing, video streaming and data processing

- Noise processing and data converting techniques

- Data collection, processing and transferring systems

HUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTION AND APPLICATION

This group is targeted to research and develop innovative techniques in human-computer interaction. Many solutions are applied into automated assistant systems such as Auto-Teller System, Auto-Suggestion System.

IOT-BASED DESIGN AND APPLICATION

In the development context of Industrial Revolution 4.0 and IoT-based technologies, this group is established and expected to conduct new research about advanced IoT techniques and designs for different application fields including E-hospital, smart traffic system, precise agriculture, smart home, and smart management.

Targeted technologies for research:

- Wireless communications: Bluetooth, WiFi, LoRaWan, Zigbee, Near-Band Commnuncation

- Cloud Computing and Edge Computing

MULTIPROCESSOR AND APPLICATION

Nowadays, Multicore and multiprocessor systems have become popular and taken an very important role in increasing calculation power of embedded systems for high performance systems and complex applications. Multiprocessor/Multicore Systems have actually made a revolution in designing smart devices, especially mobile devices. This groups is targeted to research areas:

- Multicore/Multiprocessor system designs based on new architectures such as ARM, RISC-V

- Real-time operating system for Multicore/Multiprocessor systems

- Parallel processing and distributed systems
