LABORATORY ON ASIC AND EMBEDDED SYSTEM DESIGNS

Based on the need of developing core IC designs for low-end solutions for smart city, Faculty of Computer Engineering sets the target to establish key laboratory on ASIC and embedded system designs. The laboratory is to: 

  1. Attract lecturers and researchers to build strong research groups in computer engineering, ASIC and embedded system design for smart applications and management systems. 
  2. Provide a positive environment to develop high quality human resource in computer engineering, IC design, embedded system design, IoT-based application and SoC design,…
  3. Conduct collaborations with national and international organizations to develop researches and applications for smart city.
  4. Conduct science and technology exchange in computer engineering, ASIC and embedded system design.

  • Designing ASIC IP and IC for wireless data transceiver for Internet infrastructure, multimedia data processing IC and cryptography IC for information security.

Layout of Microprocessor IP

  • Designing embedded systems which allow to integration of multimedia data processing, smart control algorithms, wireless communication interfaces and information security mechanisms. Evaluating functionalities of IC and embedded systems designed  based on the internet communication infrastructure.
  • Researching and designing IP or IC cores using ASIC design flow:
    1. Researching and designing IP/IC core for digital signal processing with wireless communication interfaces on the internet-based infrastructure  integrated with information security algorithm and mechanism. 
    2. Researching and designing IP/IC cores for multimedia data processing with information security mechanism.
  • Designing embedded systems integrated with IP/IC cores designed using ASIC design flow for smart city applications: 
    1. Researching and designing embedded systems with integration of multimedia data processing and wireless connection on internet-based for IoT applications for smart city. (Targeted solution: Self-driving car]
